Police: Woman Made $12K In Purchases With Fake Gift Cards At Nassau County Victoria's Secret

A woman who allegedly made more than $12,000 in fraudulent purchases at Victoria's Secret store in North New Hyde Park has been charged with grand larceny.

Sovanna Imani Durant, 23, address unknown, was arrested around 12:39 p.m., Monday, June 10, after visiting the store at 1450 Union Turnpike, numerous times throughout the morning and into the afternoon and made numerous purchases using multiple credit cards as well as gift cards, said the Nassau County Police.

Durant’s actions were eventually observed by a loss prevention manager who determined that the credit cards and gift cards she used to purchase merchandise exceeding $12,000 were fraudulent, police said. 

Durant was placed under arrest without incident. Police did not reveal what merchandise she purchased. 

A subsequent investigation revealed that the credit cards and gift cards used were re-coded cards using Victoria's Secret account holder’s accounts.

Durant was charged with grand larceny, five counts of criminal possession of a forged instrument and unlawful possession of personal identification.
